Media firms @PCIJdotOrg, @VERAfiles, @CMFR, and @RapplerDotCom all BAYARAN???

Mr Bobi Tiglao couldn’t have been more succinctly on point in his explosive Manila Times article today.

We are a sovereign nation. Why do we allow a foreign power to fund media entities dedicated to painting the duly elected president black, in the hope that the masses, or the military, would be roused to topple him?

But that is exactly what Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ), Vera Files, the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility (CMFR), and Rappler are guilty of to the tune of millions of dollars in funding from foreign governments according to Tiglao.

Recall earlier that top Yellow blogger Jover Laurio of Pinoy Ako Blog too was exposed as a paid hack. Following these exposés, including ones from RJ Nieto’s Fact-checking the fact-checker: Over 50% of Vera Files funding from CIA-linked orgs, these supposed “truth sayers” have been exposed as receiving foreign funds. They are all anti-Duterte. And to think they have been accusing us for years of receiving funds from the Marcoses even without providing proof. Such hypocrites!

I’m pretty sure the journalists tagged as receiving foreign funds will cry foul and accuse the Duterte govt of trying to stifle “dissent”. But as journalists, they should be publishing facts, not opinions. And besides, if they broke the law, they have to pay the price.

Current chairman of the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (@PCIJdotOrg) attended the wedding of Jover Laurio (a.k.a. @PinoyAkoBlog)!

How can one expect Filipinos to regard the chi chi Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) as an objective source of information when its chairman, Howie Severino is a known rabid supporter of partisan camps loyal to the Aquino-Cojuangco clan (a.k.a. the Yellowtards)?

This is an issue highlighted by former Ambassador and Manila Times columnist Bobi Tiglao in a recent Facebook post

In the company of known communists, Yellowtard politicians like Florin “Pilo” Hilbay, and disgraced singer Jim Paredes, among others, it is difficult to see Severino and the PCIJ as anything other than just another mouthpiece of groups loyal to failed ideologies and narratives.

Tiglao also adds in a subsequent post

PCIJ, Vera Files, CMFR have been demanding transparency from government. Yet they refuse to be transparent when they’re asked who are their funders. Don’t they know that media like government is a public trust? They haven’t responded at all to my queries.

It must be clear in hindsight to many of the bozos in this photo what a dumb idea it was to be caught all together in this now iconic wedding photo.

Top “fact checker” Ellen Tordesillas slack on fact check standards when sharing anti-Duterte videos!

When it comes to sharing the “Bikoy” videos that supposedly expose a “narco-list” that implicates in the Philippines’ drug trade members of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s family, Vera Files head and “fact checker” extraordinaire Ellen Tordesillas pulls no punches.

Tordesillas reports on her blog that the videos “look professionally done” and were “uploaded on You Tube and Facebook [under the] account of ‘Metro Balita’, which lists itself as ‘media/news company’.”

All this is, of course, just Tordesillas’s personal opinion to suggest something about the factualness of the content of the videos and the authenticity of its sources.

It is thus hypocritical that the Philippines’ Queen of “Fact Checking” would encourage people to consume and spread content on social media on the weak back of her opinion and personal judgement and not much else.
